2024 Pinnacle Society Luncheon
On Tuesday, June 4, over 70 guests gathered at the Hanover Inn to attend the 2024 Pinnacle Society luncheon. Hosted by Duane Compton, PhD, Dean of the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth and Professor of Biochemistry and Cell Biology, the luncheon offered attendees a chance to connect with one another over a delicious lunch and listen to a thought-provoking discussion on the future of medical education.
Dean Compton moderated the discussion with a panel of Geisel educators, including Sonia N. Chimienti, MD, Matthew S. Duncan, MD, and Erika T. Brown, PhD. The topics discussed included the importance of taking an interdisciplinary approach in medical education, how Dartmouth College and Geisel have addressed mental health concerns, and how medical education can be more inclusive to reflect the changing demographics of patients. Their conversation showcased firsthand how critical of a role educators play in the future of healthcare, not only preparing physicians to tackle healthcare’s biggest challenges, but also pushing medical education to new heights through the use of new technologies and incorporating a global health perspective.
